Exclusive: mr. Pam Opens Up About Her Favorite Movies, Her Award-Winning Directing Style, And Her New Production Company, “Wham Bam Pictures”

Earlier this summer, iconic director mr. Pam announced she was departing from her position as production manager and lead director of NakedSword Originals, a position she held for nearly a decade that brought her countless awards, legions of fans, and lifelong friendships with performers and colleagues. As she begins her next chapter with the launch of her own production company—Wham Bam Pictures—and several upcoming studio projects, Str8Up spoke with Pam about her favorite NakedSword movies, the state of porn today, her unique directing style, and what she has planned in the months ahead as the industry adapts to an ever-changing world.

Str8UpGayPorn: Pam! It’s so great to talk and catch up with you. I wanted to start by looking back at your time with NakedSword.
mr. Pam: Thank you, Zach, for this opportunity to walk down porn memory lane!

Str8UpGayPorn: So, tell us about your five favorite movies that you directed at NakedSword. What made each of them stand out to you?
mr. Pam: After nine years and hundreds of scenes—how to pick my top five!? That’s like asking gay porn mama to pick her favorite porn son? I love them all so much!

Str8UpGayPorn: OK, I’ll give you one more. Make it your top six, ha ha.
mr. Pam: OK! If I had to pick, these are definitely my faves. In no particular order:

The Gay Simple Life
We combined a reality show format to a gay porn shoot, and it worked flawlessly! Calvin Banks and Josh Moore were hilarious with their quick wit and non-stop bantering. They kept us laughing literally the entire week. Then add hotties Cade Maddox, Ricky Larkin, Dakota Payne, and our chihuahuas Poop and Molly. Plus, my wonderful production team: cinematographer Leo Forte, grip Brian Bonds, and our local Tulsa host, Cowboy Clay.

We packed each day with unpredictable challenges like driving a big rig truck, fishing, and drag. I still can’t believe Leo and Dakota painted these virgin-queens and had them perform at gay bar LaRue’s. They were terrified! At the end of the night, Josh told me it was the best day of his life. I applaud Josh and Calvin for trusting me and not knowing what the fuck was in store for them each day. And thank you to my cameraman Leo Forte for convincing me to shoot reality style.

MXXX: The Hardest Ride
Yes, the infamous “dirt movie” where Tom Faulk got stabbed. I always joke, “Die for Art,” and this shoot really held me to it! Jesus! One would think that filming gay porn in a small Texas town with gasoline spills on set, exhaust pipe burns, and directing seven porn stars on motorcycles would be a lot for any director. However, the most memorable moment was definitely clinging to a mechanic I just met—yes, the one who “stabbed” Tom—on the back of a crotch-rocket going 90 mph while filming Tom Faulk pop wheelies. That was insane, but I got the shot and didn’t die! Every day on set was an exhilarating yet welcomed near-death experience and creative challenge.

The movie was co-written by myself and Tom, and it was somewhat autobiographical about his ragtag life in Texas. A Peter Pan story of a boy forced to grow up. It was an honor to step into his world, collaborate with his friends and parents, and produce this multi-award winning film.

Kiss And Tel Aviv
A gay porn in the Middle East?! Fuck yeah! My buddies Fabrice and Anthony John were producing the first ever HustlaBall in Tel Aviv, so we asked our executive producer Tim Valenti if we could collaborate to film a NakedSword Originals movie the week before the event and share talent. I had already traveled to Israel many times, so I was somewhat familiar with the country—its joys and political unrest. But again, I love to push the limits, so we ended up filming the all-sex movie, all outdoors with stunning international cast.

My two favorite moments: Ashley Ryder getting DP’d by Rocco Steele and Kayden Gray on a rooftop in Tel Aviv. The other epic moment was Ryan Rose riding Kayden’s huge dick with waves crashing all around us on a gay cruising beach, with military helicopters flying by. Again, breathtaking!

Following the shoot and the HustlaBall, we had one day off and drove to the Dead Sea, played in the mud, and rode camels. Oh yeah, I ended up winning Best Director and Best All-Sex Movie for Kiss And Tel Aviv, so that was pretty cool, too.

Secrets And Lies
Winner of Best Picture, this film is near and dear to my heart because it was shot at the farm location where I began my gay porn career. The first scene in the film took place in an old hay barn which was the exact spot where I first fell in love with the art of gay porn. I filmed the documentary eXposed: The Making of a Legend with Colt Studio Group back in 2004 with a crew of about 14 people, so it was amazing to come back 12 years later as the director with a crew of only three people, plus the amazing homeowner, Bruce, who is now family to me.

The all-star cast—Rocco Steele, Trenton Ducati, Colton Grey, Jacob Peterson, Brandon Wilde, and Brian Bonds worked so hard to create this film, but we all knew we had something magical on our hands. My porn career came full circle on this project, it was epic.

Grindhouse & Nob Hill Theatre
I love filming gay sex in front of a live audience of horny gay men! I guess it could be equivalent to a Hollywood actor doing Broadway. There’s nothing like getting to see the fans’ reactions in real time. I’ve had the honor of filming in men’s sex clubs like Steamworks in Berkeley, Entourage in Las Vegas, CCBC in Palm Springs, and most recently Haus Romeo in Austria. We would always have a trickle of passersby who paused to wank while watching us film, but the live sex shows at the famous Nob Hill Theatre were legendary!

The first was Grindhouse in 2012 with the king of live sex shows, Adam Killian, leading the charge. He was paired up with Trenton Ducati and Jake Genesis, plus over 100 very loud and eager fans. By the end, everyone was pouring sweat and so turned on by the energy in the room. It was a frenzy of gay sexuality, something I will never forget.

In 2018 when I got word that the Nob Hill Theatre was closing, I had to honor the history of the theatre and the owners—my two gay dads, Larry and Gary—who had been so generous to me and our NakedSword productions. I brought back Adam Killian and paired him up with Jessie Colter and Max Duro.

The Pack
OK, one more live sex show that was insane. I had the honor of filming at Roseland Ballroom in New York City with this story-driven film, inspired by the world famous The Saint At Large Black Party. The guys had done pop-up shows all night, we had been there since 10pm, so it had been eight hours of fucking—talk about a porn director challenge!

My mission was to rally a live, five-man orgy at 7am on a balcony overlooking the dancefloor of 5,000 horny gay men. Star of the film Boomer Banks took the lead with Leo Forte, Cam Christou, Seven Dixon, and Marcus Isaacs, and they rocked it.

This was a dear-to-my-heart film about lust, desire, and self-acceptance. And again, it was an honor to document not only explosive sex throughout this whole movie, but to archive gay history through the film genre of gay porn.

Str8UpGayPorn: You obviously have such a massive and impressive catalog, having worked with, what, at least 200 stars over the last decade? 300? Who are three stars you’ve never worked with who you’d like to shoot for your new production company?
mr. Pam: Three guys I have admired for years are DeAngelo Jackson, Blake Mitchell, and Rhyheim Shabazz. Plus, all the newbies who are interested in having fun in front of my camera, hit me up! I’m looking to cast all ethnicities, ages, sizes, and demeanors. The only requirement is swagger and love of cock.

Str8UpGayPorn: What are the plans for shooting in the age of Covid, and how will your casts and crews be kept safe during production?
mr. Pam: Fuckin Miss Rona is a bitch, huh? Back on March 11th at 3am, in Tyrol, Austria, my Covid-quarantine adventure began. I got a call from my Falcon producer saying Trump issued an international travel ban, and to pack up because we had to flee Austria. It’s crazy to think, here we are, five months later! I’m still in development for my production company, Wham Bam Pictures, so quarantine is my buddy at the moment. I’m constantly researching Covid-safe filming guidelines, so when it’s time to launch production, I’ll work with models and recommendations from the CDC, Free Speech Coalition, and other adult industry groups to make sure everyone remains healthy and safe. Let’s all pray to the Porn Gawd that the situation improves, because those virtual jerkoffs just aren’t the same as man-on-man cum-soaked ravenous encounters!

Str8UpGayPorn: God, I know. If I have to see one more person jerking off on a Zoom call. That said, performers on OnlyFans are doing better than ever. What impact do you think OnlyFans has had on studios, and particularly the type of big productions you shoot? How do you compete, and is there room for both types of porn?
mr. Pam: There’s definitely room for all kinds of porn. The biggest turn-on from model produced content is the unstaged, realness of the sex. The biggest turn off is bad camera work and lighting. Having helped many friends shoot fan content, I actually love filming and photographing on an iPhone. It’s so easy, plus the air drop is the best invention ever. Sometimes my damn iPhone does better than all my professional gear!?

Str8UpGayPorn: Given all the competition, what do you as a director have to do to keep fans entertained and coming back for more?
mr. Pam: I have always had a free flowing, ninja style of filming. Since the boom of fan content, I have put more challenges on myself to be as efficient as possible filming gay sex.

Str8UpGayPorn: And how do you do that?
mr. Pam: Creating more flexible lighting, shooting action shots ahead of time, and forcing the perfectionist inside me to just let things go if the sex is flowing. Some of my thoughts while filming are, like, “Oh fuck, I panned, and the light stand got in the shot!? How can anyone jerk off to this? I must stop the scene immediately and fix it!” But it’s like, girl, let it go. The sex is on fire, no one is going to care.

Str8UpGayPorn: You have to make spur of the moment decisisons. I’m a neurotic control freak so that would drive me crazy, but you’re used to it? How do you know it’s all going to turn out OK?
mr. Pam: Well the ultimate goal is always to get the best performance from the guys, and to respect their sexual energy by filming quick and unobtrusively. If the dicks are hard, asses are clean, and the guys are horny as fuck, I can shoot a big studio sex scene in one take. I can push through my own physical discomfort of cramping camera hand, and I can juggle crotch light myself, wipe ass boogers while panning, and give hand signals to Leo, my other cameraman, to communicate if we’re wide or close up.

Str8UpGayPorn: I’m having an OCD-fueled anxiety attack just hearing that.
mr. Pam: It’s a lot! But that’s how you get the best out of models. I think ultimately what keeps viewers coming back for more is really good sex. We all can intuitively feel when guys are really hot for each other and having fun. At the same time, people can tell if it’s a fucking nightmare scene with no chemistry, limp dicks, sore buttholes, and fake fucking. Then it’s left up to the editor to piece together.

Str8UpGayPorn: So it’s a lot of work, but it’s still very much worth it, in the end.
mr. Pam: Yes, and it’s not hard to get hot sex scenes, it just takes a bit more pre-production, the right casting, and tons of text messages and Facetime calls. That’s one of my favorite challenges as a director/producer, and I have a bookcase full of awards to prove my method works!

Str8UpGayPorn: What do you think has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned as director of production at NakedSword?
mr. Pam: Having the world basically shut down for the last six months has forced me to just fucking chill. For the last 16 years, I have been going, going, going. Nonstop filming porn for everyone’s masturbatory enjoyment on productions with NakedSword, Falcon Studios, and Raging Stallion. Hosting events, performing, and shooting nightlife photography. Traveling all around the world, filming hot guys having ridiculously hot sex in gorgeous—and filthy!—locations. I have been living the dream! But, I realize now that my health was suffering.

Str8UpGayPorn: What’s interesting is that, from an outsider’s perspective, whenever I’d see you, everything seemed fine. You were always your same joyous, energetic self.
mr. Pam: Right! But my closest friends were always saying that I desperately needed a healthier work/life balance, and I had no fucking idea what they were talking about. But, I get it now. I’m proud to say I finally reached my goal of losing 100 pounds, and my body feels great.

And now, I’m strong, pain free, and clear headed. I’m living in sunny Las Vegas and taking much better care of myself, with exercising, cooking, kayaking, and exploring the desert with Poop, my handsome Chihuahua.

Str8UpGayPorn: You’re in a better place physically and mentally, but was it still scary to leave NakedSword and the security of a full time job this summer, especially during a pandemic?
mr. Pam: NakedSword has been my life for the past nine years, and NakedSword President Tim Valenti has been the biggest mentor to me since I quit my corporate job at CNET 16 years ago, when I started filming the “Tim & Roma Show.” Honestly, it’s terrifying to leave the comfort of the nest, but also so exciting to venture out with my own company and truly dive into my art.

Str8UpGayPorn: Thank you again for taking the time to chat. I can’t wait to see your first big movie with Wham Bam. And you sound just as excited—if not more so—as you were 10 years ago when you started at NakedSword.
mr. Pam: It’s because I truly love what I do! I love making films for people to get off to, and I also take huge pride in advancing LGBT rights and documenting gay history through my work. I have a motto: If it scares you, you should do it. So, let’s fuckin do this!
