JAREC WENTWORTH FOUND GUILTY OF EXTORTION
After closing arguments and jury instructions concluded this morning at 10:00 a.m., the jury in the Teofil Brank (a.k.a. Jarec Wentworth) extortion trial deliberated for approximately two hours, and they’ve just delivered their verdict.
Teofil Brank has been found guilty on all six counts.
Count 1: 18:875(d): Transmitting threatening communications with intent to extort—Guilty
Count 2: 18:1951(a): Extortion and attempted extortion affecting interstate commerce by nonviolence threat—Guilty
Counts 3 & 4: 18:880: Receiving proceeds of extortion—Guilty; Guilty
Count 5: 18:1951(a): Extortion and attempted extortion affecting interstate commerce by nonviolence threat—Guilty
Count 6: 18:1952(a)(3): Use of an interstate facility to facilitate an unlawful activity—Guilty
As the jury was being polled individually to confirm their votes, Brank placed his hands on his face, then lowered his head to the table.
Brank faces 6-9 years in prison, and is scheduled to be sentenced on September 21st, 2015.
